The good stuff

  1. The proud Kingdom. Hosting the fair is something King Ezekiel feels strongly about, praising Rick and Carl in their efforts to bring everyone together even though it cost them their lives But the F.A.I.R. (as Jerry calls it) actually happened! Seeing people from all the communities there was great and hopefully, they won’t be divided again!
  2. The loving reunion. Seeing Carol and Ezekiel hugging Henry after being scared for him, Daryl, and the others was a nice moment and to have it happen at the fair was an emotional time. But hugs and smiles between everyone set the stage for a fair that could be a really good time.
  3. Embracing being royalty. Carol has vocally objected to being called the queen in the past but when it came time to sign the charter she didn’t write Carol Peletier…she signed her name as Queen Carol right next to King Ezekiel. The Kingdom seemed unified and strong while joining with other communities.
  4. Planning for the future. Normally, the communities talking to each other about defense strategies, training, and communication would be the best thing ever…especially after the relationship was fractured. It should still be on the list of things to do, but they have more pressing things to worry about.
  5. Lydia standing up for herself. It’s clear she’s not like the other members of the Whisperers. When confronted by her mother, she finally said she doesn’t want to live with her mother and has officially aligned herself with Henry and the people who have been keeping her safe. It’s a good deal since she doesn’t have to wear human flesh on her face anymore.
  6. Going down fighting. While the final moments of this episode were heartbreaking, it’s nice to know they took some people with them. The arrival of the Highwaymen gave them an opportunity to fight their way out, but they came up short. They shouldn’t be thought of as victims.
