The Walking Dead season 9 episode 15 recap: The Calm Before
Ozzy and DJ fight off some walkers. DJ is impressed by Ozzy’s giant wrench and its effectiveness. They see Daryl coming with the group and show them the wreckage from the happy couple. Ozzy has heard about the Whisperers and says it’s a strange time. Magna recognizes the coins from Hilltop. Michonne suggests that they split up. Ozzy pledges to keep watching the roads, adding that it will cost a few more movies. Carol is happy to oblige.
Yumiko and Magna share a kiss of their own as they split up. Yumiko is going to Carol, Michonne and Daryl, while Magna goes back to protect their new home.
Later that night they realize the trail splits into three paths. They’re overtaken by a group of walkers from Hilltop. They fight them off, working together to take them out. Soon there is a pile of walkers at their feet, and that’s when the Whisperers move in. They have guns. Beta arrives and tells them to drop their weapons. He won’t ask again. All they had to do was hand over Lydia, but they didn’t. Now there are consequences. No one else had to die, but not anymore.
We go back to the moments after Carol kissed the King and the group left. The kingdom continues with their celebration. Nabila can’t believe Michonne came, and Jerry gives her props. Behind them, a woman with blond hair and a floral dress is listening.
Rosita finds Eugene, who is still wet from the dunk tank. He reveals that he traded for some ham radio parts so that they can all talk to each other. She tells him that they can still talk despite everything that has happened. She thanks him for helping out with Gabriel. She settles in and starts working on the radio with him, opting out of the nap to stay with him. He offers her a spot at the role playing game meetup later on. “Don’t push it,” she says.
Henry is looking for Lydia while Tara pitches a training camp for the communities. Gabriel and Rachel are all in. She’s eager to get on the road to go home so she can show them that they can count on her. Gabriel doesn’t think there is any question of that.
