One character from season 9 episode 15 of AMC’s The Walking Dead titled “The Calm Before ” did enough to be declared the MVP on Sunday, Mar. 24, 2019.

Oh boy…let’s take a moment to think about everything that happened during this week’s episode of The Walking Dead. There were happy and sad moments to go with intense and scary scenes in the penultimate episode of season 9.

It’s hard to look at this episode and really come away with any winners. Despite the fair being lovely and the charter getting signed, not many good things happened for the survivors to earn any of them the MVP award.

That is why this week’s award is going a little unconventional.

The MVP from TWD 915 is Alpha

Alpha entered this episode with four things in mind. She wanted to make sure her daughter was okay, get some revenge for her camp being raided, establish a border to keep the survivors off her land, and look strong for her followers.

In the matter of this episode, she managed to accomplish all of these…and did so in great fashion.

For Alpha to scalp a survivor to use her skin as a wig was a genius move. She then used her disguise to gather intel on the community while searching out Lydia, who was reported to be there by members of the Whisperers.

She then abducted those heading back in small groups from the fair and killed them to get revenge for losing her people. Using her victim’s heads, she formed a barrier to the north and showed a massive horde of walkers to intimidate Daryl and the other survivors.

Alpha did get to see her daughter again but was dismissed after Lydia said she wasn’t going back with her mother. This caused her to tear up when she got home to the Whisperer camp. When spotted by one of her people, Alpha killed that individual in cold blood since she saw the moment of weakness.

While we all hate Alpha, it was tough not to enjoy the acting of Samantha Morton in this role and see her group execute everything so well. For that reason, she is the MVP. Other options for MVP from this episode go to Ezekiel for his great speech at the fair and Siddiq for beautifully painting a picture of the survivors who were lost in this episode.

Let’s be honest though…the Whisperers won this week.
