Samantha Morton has blown fans away with her performance as Alpha on The Walking Dead. Now her daughter is headlining a new Amazon series.

The Walking Dead fans, cast, and crew have all been stunned by the way that Samantha Morton has brought Alpha to life. She’s managed to make the most terrifying villain on The Walking Dead a complex character that is terrifying but also interesting and not a caricature.

It looks like her daughter, Esme Creed-Miles, has inherited some of her mother’s talent.  Esme is the star of the new Amazon series Hanna, which drops on Friday, the 29th.

Check out the trailer and the noticeable family resemblance:

Esme clearly is strong, powerful, and not afraid to get physical just like her mother. In the show, she plays a girl who was raised by her father in isolation in the woods. She has extraordinary survival and fighting skills, taught to her by her father, which she needs as she is pursued relentlessly by an FBI agent. The series follows her journey as she tries to figure out who she is and the secrets her father kept from her.

The series has an “Orphan Black” feel and it’s a dark drama that looks really interesting. Esme’s intensity and compelling presence are very similar to that of her mother. When Samantha Morton joined the cast of The Walking Dead the cast and crew often commented publicly on the terrifying presence that Samantha Morton had when she went into character as Alpha. Judging by the trailer it seems like Esme has the same ability to drop so far into character that the character becomes intriguing.

Hanna On Amazon Prime

Hanna is just one of many originals that Amazon is rolling out this year. The buzz about the show has been good based on the cast and the trailer which sets up the series as a dark thriller with a lot of talent behind it. In the last couple of years, there have been a lot of new shows that focus on strong female characters and it’s nice to see Amazon contributing another strong female character to that mix.

On The Walking Dead, Alpha may be the scariest villain to ever threaten the survivors, as evidenced by her murder of 10 survivors in the last The Walking Dead episode “The Calm Before”. Samantha Morton has made Alpha an unapologetic force to be reckoned with.  It will be fun to see her daughter also play a strong female character, although hopefully, she’s not going to have a body count as high as Alpha’s.  Watch Esme Creed-Miles kick butt as Hanna on Amazon Prime starting this Friday, March, 29th.
