3. Mommy dearest

It’s apparent that Lydia has lived her life in fear. Ever since her mother took on the Alpha persona, any semblance of family, love, or individuality has been wiped from her life and she likely forgot what all that is like.

She has gotten a taste of what life is like outside the Whisperers. Henry showed her a little of what life is like at the Hilltop and her experience with the people at the Hilltop was mostly positive. That made her experience at the fair even more intense.

When Alpha showed up at the fair and made her way into the movie theater, she sat down next to her daughter and confronted her about returning to her group. Finally, Lydia stood up for herself. She said she wants to stay with her new friends.

Surprisingly, Alpha accepted this and left without her daughter. However, the leader of the Whisperers wasn’t done surprising people in this episode…but now she ditched the wig, hat, and bright clothes and went back to look intimidating…and not looking weak in front of her people.
