The Walking Dead wrapped up the season with an emotional episode setting up conflicts to come in season 10 and fans had feelings about it.
The Walking Dead season 9 is done. And fans overall had high praise for the season as well as for the season ender “The Storm”. This episode was the first episode where fans have ever gotten to see winter in The Walking Dead world. Winter has been referenced at various points during the years but there’s never been a full episode set in the deep winter until now. “The Storm” featured an impressive blizzard as well as some darkly gorgeous snowy walker visuals.
It was a somber episode overall as the residents of the Kingdom struggled to get to Hilltop with help from members of all the communities. Lydia is grappling with finding a place for herself now that Henry is gone and Carol, reeling from her loss, left King Ezekiel and went home to Alexandria for the first time since she left in season 6.
Negan’s redemption has begun as he saved Judith when she ran off in the storm looking for Dog and it’s good to see that he’s going to be integrated into the group as long as it doesn’t happen too quickly. Some fans are not ready to accept him fully yet after the brutal deaths of Glenn and Abe. But Negan is clearly going to be a big asset in the Whisperer War that is coming in season 10. Alpha was seen making herself even stronger to take on the communities next season and that battle is going to make All Out War look like a day at the park.
Overall “The Storm” was a quiet breath after the shocking deaths in 915 and an emotional close to what has been one of the strongest seasons of The Walking Dead in several years. Here’s what fans thought of 916 “The Storm”:
It’s hard to imagine something hitting harder than last week. But nothing says “Prepare yourself for a gut punch!” quite like a Walking Dead season finale Sunday! #TWD

The countdown to The Walking Dead season 10 starts now. Thankfully there is a new season of Fear The Walking Dead just around the corner starting on June 2nd so that we can spend few more months immersed in The Walking Dead world and see what John Dorie, June, Alicia, Luciana, Strand, Al, and the others have been up to since we saw them at the end of season 4.
