4. Lydia nearly ends it all.

Now has to be a horrible time to be Lydia. She got bested by the survivors and brought to the Hilltop where her mother came for her…only to hit her and put her in a fight to the death. Follow that up with Henry going after her and putting himself at risk leading to people from the Whisperers dying due to a walker ambush, and things get worse.

Then, you have more Whisperers dying in an attempt to bring her back to Alpha and Lydia having to tell her mom she doesn’t want to return to their group. Add in 14 people from the survivors being killed (Including Henry) in order to prove the point that the Whisperers aren’t to be messed with, and now must live with the people who are grieving over losses blamed on her.

It’s not a surprise she thought about taking her own life by letting a half-frozen walker bite her. With all the guilt and pain she feels in the first place being multiplied from people like Alden hounding her, she feels weaker than ever and still doesn’t have the strength to feel like her own person.

Thankfully, Carol is there. If someone knows about grief and pain over the course of the zombie apocalypse, it’s her. She was there to remind her that she is strong and persuade her former adopted son’s romantic interest to rejoin the group and head for Alexandria. Does this mean Carol will take on a parental role? Or will she just be there to help?
