During The Walking Dead episode “The Storm”, Negan showed that he offers up positive qualities that could help Alexandria in areas they desperately lack.

Negan was set free as Alexandria’s community members braced themselves for the first snowstorm in the history of The Walking Dead. The charismatic survivor continued to show the qualities that other survivors hate most about him including the sarcasm and slinging insults, but he has qualities that make him important to Alexandria.

He saved them by being the first to draw attention to a weird smell that led to an explosion. The other survivors didn’t take him seriously, but they had to relocate to keep warm. Whether the survivors like it or not, Negan saved them from a tragic demise.

When he was the leader his attention to detail was revealed with his elaborate schemes, traps, and suggested routes for the Saviors. He knows when the atmosphere seems “off” and the only other survivor in the history of The Walking Dead to have senses like that was Rick Grimes himself.

Season 8 during the all-out war, Dwight guided Alexandria through the swamp, Dwight made it clear Negan strategically paid attention to the atmosphere and made that zone a restricted area due to how hazardous it was and mapped out other ports of travel. His attention to detail is vital and that makes him valuable and should make the survivors happy that he is still alive.

While he was out in the storm, he went after Judith and got hurt in the process, but only cared about Judith’s safety. Negan showed that he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep people safe. This is unlike the head of the council Gabriel who sent Eugene and Rosita on a botched mission that nearly got them killed earlier in the season.

He puts himself in harm’s way for the sake of his people, and even his enemies. This includes when he saved Rick from getting killed by walkers or when he saved Gabriel during their escape from the herd. He showed signs that he had a moral compass and wasn’t a complete monster.

Negan also provides experience for Alexandria. He knows what it is like to lead a large group and be a threat to their way of life. He was impressed with Michonne’s willingness to cross into Alpha’s territory. If anyone understands the mind behind a leader with a way of life that affects other communities, it’s Negan.

No one has a clue how to deal with the Whisperers. King Ezekiel openly expressed worry, while Daryl and Michonne have yet to express a clear plan. Negan can guide them with a similar strategy that ultimately led to his defeat during the war. He clearly reflects on his defeat against Rick and he will remind them when the time comes.

dark. Next. The Walking Dead season 9 finale recap: The Storm

The Whisperers will be lurking again while the communities go through the hardest times they have faced in years. Negan may be the key to preserving their world. His leadership skills will be utilized for the first time in years, and there will be mixed reactions from all survivors. You don’t want to miss it when season 10 of The Walking Dead premieres in October on AMC.
