Who was on the radio at the end of The Walking Dead season finale?
By Sonya Iryna
Whose voice was on the radio at the end of The Walking Dead? Our panelists weigh on with their guesses and thoughts on how radio will be a game changer for the survivors.
On The Walking Dead, Eugene finally got the parts he needed to get Alexandria’s radio working thanks to the fair and having working radios could be exactly what the communities need to connect to the larger world. It’s great that the radios will allow the communities to stay in touch with each other, especially now that travel between the communities can take more than a day during some types of weather.
But the real benefit of the radio is that the survivors will finally be able to find out if there are other communities or possibly even cities full of people that are functional out in the world. With limited resources, it’s not practical for the survivors to go on extended scouting trips. Radio communication will give them the chance to connect with anyone else that’s out there without having to risk the lives of anyone in the communities.
It’s possible that it was someone they already know on the other end of that radio exchange at the end of The Walking Dead season 9 finale but it’s also possible that it wasn’t. Could it be a new group? Or maybe the person on the other end of that radio knows what happened to Rick? There are so many possibilities and all of them are exciting. Here’s what our panel thinks about that mysterious radio voice.
Who Is Calling?
Having working radios opens up a wide range of possibilities for the story going forward. Who do you think was on the radio at the end of the episode?
Sonya says:
"I think it was Maggie. We don’t know anything about where Georgie lives but we know she had some technology because she had a record player. It’s not to far fetched to think she could have a radio and Maggie used it to try and contact Hilltop after getting their letters about the deaths of Jesus, Enid, and Tara."
Sara says:
"It definitely sounded like a woman’s voice coming through on the radio. I personally believe this might be Jadis, possibly trying to contact the others from the base that she and Rick may have gone to."
Jeffrey says:
"I really think the voice on the radio was either Maggie or Jadis. The reason I think it was Maggie is because the voice seemed to have a southern accent. With the talk of Lauren Cohan possibly returning in season 10, this could be an excellent way to bring Maggie back into the fold, especially if she doesn’t physically return to the Hilltop right away. The reason I think the voice could be Jadis is because I feel as though Michonne will leave to be in the Rick films next season, and Jadis could be her way of finding out where he is."
Sarabeth says:
"I think it was Maggie."
