Alycia Debnam-Carey talks Alicia episodes in Fear TWD season 5
Alycia Debnam-Carey made a huge impact in Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode “Close Your Eyes” and she knows fans want more Alicia Clark in season 5.
Undead Walking had a chance to talk with Alycia Debnam-Carey and her fellow Fear the Walking Dead cast members at WonderCon 2019, and when asked about seeing more Alicia Clark bottle episodes in season 5 she revealed that none had been filmed…yet. Debnam-Carey’s performance in season 4’s “Close Your Eyes” is regarded as one of the best episodes of the entire series, and fans want to see more.
Debnam-Carey joked when asked about having more Alicia-centric episodes before talking about how Alicia’s journey fits into the first half of season 5. “Give the people what they want! Alicia episodes!” she joked, looking over at frequent Fear director and executive producer Michael E. Satrazemis, who agreed with her. “There’s more of a focus on her personal struggles in general, I think, that we see more of. As of yet there is not a single bottle episode for her. But we’re still filming!” she added, smiling.
It’s important to remember that “Close Your Eyes” arrived in the second half of season 4, after the first half of the season established the story and where the characters were at that point in their journey. With so much action planned for the group in the first half of season 5, it makes sense that character-driven stories would come in the second half of the season.
Debnam-Carey also talked about how she separates herself from Alicia Clark. As Alicia’s journey gets darker, Alycia becomes “girlier” in real life to counteract her character’s darkness.
There’s no question that the cast is excited about the upcoming season of the show. Between the plane, nuclear walkers, new faces and new threats there is a lot in the works and season 5 promises to be a very memorable season.
Fear the Walking Dead returns for season 5 at 9pm on AMC.
