“Death” and resurrection are recurring themes in the world of The Walking Dead, and we’ve compiled a list of the 10 most memorable resurrections.

There have been some memorable resurrections across nine seasons of The Walking Dead and four seasons of Fear the Walking Dead. When we speak of resurrection in the apocalypse we’re talking about the times when it looked like a character had died, only to have that character miraculously return later on. (Obviously there’s a whole other resurrection thing happening with the walkers, but that’s something else entirely)

It isn’t uncommon for characters to escape death in the middle of the apocalypse but some characters looked to be lost forever until they miraculously returned. For some characters, it happened more than once, and for others it might still be in the cards.

Since Easter is a time of reflection on another well-known story of resurrection, let’s look at the top resurrections from The Walking Dead universe.

Merle Dixon

Back in season 1 there were more questions about what was happening in the world than there were answers. One big question was what happened to Merle Dixon on top of the building after Rick’s group was forced to leave him behind. Upon their return to rescue him, all they found was a hand. Merle had escaped, but after severing a limb the odds of surviving were stacked against him.

Right?

Never count out the Dixon brothers.

Merle returned in season 3 in the company of the Governor, but seeing his brother Daryl alive and well made it hard for him to exact the kind of revenge he always imagined. In the end Merle’s return was short lived, but it was nice to know that Merle survived the rooftop incident.
