Greg Nicotero is a living legend in the horror community and the current The Walking Dead executive producer has high hopes for Creepshow as a showrunner.

The Walking Dead definitely wouldn’t be the show it is without the hard work of Greg Nicotero. His efforts as a special effects guru, director, and executive producer have helped to make the AMC drama one of the most popular shows to ever air on television.

Nicotero has made an impressive resume over the years, working on many great movies and shows since 1985, but there is one project in particular which has a special place in his heart: the classic television show Creepshow.

Recently, Greg Nicotero spoke with Shudder about his role developing in the upcoming Creepshow reboot as well as why he is so passionate about the show. Here is that video as shared by Shudder on YouTube:

It’s great that Nicotero is going after a passion project like this. Creepshow has made a huge impact on horror fans since 1982 and the idea of bringing more stories to life under that title has been something fans have been dreaming of for years.

There is definitely a place for a show like this. With the success of Black Mirror as well as a reboot of The Twilight Zone, Creepshow could find a great audience on Shudder. The twelve episode series has tapped several great writers and directors to tell new and re-imagined stories.

Ties to The Walking Dead go further than just Nicotero. An episode titled “Night of the Paw” is written by John Esposito, who also wrote and produced the “Cold Storage” and “Torn Apart” webisodes for the series.

From his first movie set ever being Creepshow to having his own effects company, directing, producing, and being a showrunner, it’s obvious why this project is so important to Greg Nicotero. Hopefully, it can be a huge success for the Shudder streaming service when it premieres.
