Hideo Kojima hopes Death Stranding makes gamers cry

Gamers know Death Stranding will feature a character modeled after The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus but they may not know to expect tears while playing.
A lot has been made about the upcoming game Death Stranding. With ties to legendary game developer Hideo Kojima and a character model based on The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, there is already a lot to like about the game.
The upcoming PlayStation 4 release doesn’t have a release date yet and the reveal trailer for the game asked more questions than it answered for fans, but showed off some great technical accomplishments.
Recently, Kojima and Reedus spoke at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York where he revealed that it will also be a highly emotional game. Here is what Kojima said according to CNET:
"“I think people will cry,” Kojima said. He added that his goal is to allow players “to play freely but at the same time there’s more dramatic storytelling … It’s really difficult but I’m trying really hard to do both.”"
Interestingly enough, there were no new game images, videos, or information released about the game, but the passion involved in the making the game should have interested gamers excited about the possibilities available while playing Death Stranding.
Norman Reedus echoed these statements, discussing how players could get quite attached to the characters in an open world environment.
"“In this open format you can go in any direction and do all these different things. It’s a 360 of possibility. You get emotionally involved in so many different ways,” Reedus said."
Finally, Kojima spoke about how Death Stranding is a release for gamers and how the internet brings people together in a way that is quite fitting for how the upcoming PlayStation 4 release will feel for fans.
"“There’s so many things happening in the real world, America and Europe, everything is actually connected by internet. I’m kind of putting that metaphor in the game. So the player will have to reconnect the world in the game. You are very alone and solitude feeling as well but trying to get connected,” Kojima said."
It sounds as though Death Stranding will hit both some triumphant notes as well as some catastrophic ones. Fans of The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, as well as the works of Hideo Kojima, should be excited to go on this journey when the highly anticipated game is released.
