It’s time to ride with Norman Reedus once again, but this time around Reedus will represent The Walking Dead family as the honorary pace car driver at Talladega.

Norman Reedus is known for riding his beloved motorcycles, but The Walking Dead star will be driving something a little different on April 28 as he serves as the honorary pace car driver at the GEICO 500 at the famed Talladega Superspeedway.

The event gets underway on Sunday, April 28 at 1pm ET. Reedus will be in the pace car leading the field around the track in the traditional opening ceremony, after which point the green flag will wave to signal the start of the race. As honorary pace car driver Reedus joins an exclusive club of pace car drivers that includes Deontay Wilder and AJ McCarron.

Reedus has been transitioning in his role on The Walking Dead following Andrew Lincoln’s departure from the AMC flagship show. Ride with Norman Reedus just wrapped its third season with a fourth season on the way, and with his baby girl at home Reedus has been taking some much deserved time for himself lately. The actor hasn’t been on the Walker Stalker convention circuit much over the past few months but he has been making key appearances at events like PaleyFest LA and now at Talladega.

As a motorcycle enthusiast and star of The Walking Dead, Reedus is the perfect choice to drive the pace car at the GEICO 500. There a lot of crossover between the three fandoms and there’s no question that Reedus’ participation in the event could possibly draw a few new fans to the sport, which is quite appealing for the folks at Talladega.
