The Walking Dead filming schedule forces Michael Cudlitz convention cancellation
Michael Cudlitz was forced to cancel an upcoming convention appearance due to The Walking Dead season 10 filming schedule and what this means.
The Walking Dead fans had reason to rejoice as season 10 filming got underway on May 6, but a tweet from Michael Cudlitz gives fans some insight into when the TWD alum might direct an episode.
Cudlitz directed his first episode of The Walking Dead in season 9 and he’s returning to direct in season 10. Cudlitz was due to appear at Nickel City Con on May 17-19 but posted that he’ll be unable to attend due to the show’s filming schedule.
Here’s the tweet:
There are several ways to interpret this information. Cudlitz could be heading to the set for a meeting in advance of the show he’s directing, which is certainly a possibility, or it could indicate that the episode that Cudlitz is directing lands early in the season. If filming begins May 6 and he’s shooting on May 17-19 then he’ll be directing the third episode of the season.
Cudlitz directed episode 907, “Stradivarius”, in season 9. This was a critical episode in the show’s new timeline as it provided much-needed background into Magna’s group while also reuniting two key characters: Carol and Daryl.
Should it be the case that Cudlitz is directing 1002 or 1003 then it could very well involve the return of the Whisperers as they leave their warm winter retreat and come back for vengeance against the people who crossed into their land. It could also be the episode that dives into the mystery of the woman’s voice on the radio. After the game-changing season finale there are certainly any number of possibilities for how the early episodes of season 10 could play out.
One thing is for sure: It will be great to have Michael Cudlitz back on the set of The Walking Dead, even if it’s behind the camera!
The Walking Dead returns for season 10 this fall on AMC.
