Mother’s Day 2019: Celebrating 10 moms in The Walking Dead universe

She might be a terrible person capable of horrible things, but Alpha is a mother worth remembering. Despite her unending desire to protect her daughter, Alpha has been abusive toward Lydia long before the apocalypse began. She stood by and watched as baby Lydia almost suffocated, and as soon as she was reunited with her daughter she smacked her, hard.

It’s weird to have someone like Alpha on a list celebrating mothers (In fairness I never said they were all good mothers…) but she’s a great example of a terrible mothers in a long line of fictional mothers like Cersei from Game of Thrones and Constance Langdon on American Horror Story.

What’s interesting about Alpha is that she seems to care about Lydia to a certain point. It’s almost like she has the belief that if she can’t have her daughter, no one can. Killing Henry was painful to Carol and Ezekiel, sure, but it also killed Lydia because Lydia knows she played a role in his death by being there.

She’s not getting the Mother of the Year award any time soon, but she’s on the list because Alpha is a bad mother-
