Mother’s Day 2019: Celebrating 10 moms in The Walking Dead universe

Michonne has been a mother three times. She had her son Andre, who died early on in the apocalypse. Then she became a mother to Carl and Judith. Later, after losing Carl and Rick, Michonne continued as Judith’s mother while also welcoming little RJ to the fold.

Michonne’s journey has been difficult given that she has lost so many people, and her experience fighting Jocelyn in “Scars” only shows how much her past haunts her. The thought of losing Judith (or RJ) terrifies her. She’s willing to sacrifice every relationship in her life to keep her children safe and for a while she did just that. It wasn’t until the end of “Scars” when Judith reminded her of what they’re fighting for.

With Michonne’s fate after season 10 in the air, we can only hope that her future involves a reunion with Rick so that Rick can see the children she has raised in his absence. Michonne is an incredible mother and she’s a prime example of how a mother will do whatever it takes to protect her children.
