Snowpiercer won’t debut until the spring of 2020, but Steven Ogg’s new post-apocalyptic show has already been granted a second season pickup.

Snowpiercer, the story of a train winding its way through a snowy apocalypse, will debut in 2020 on TBS following the conclusion of the 2020 NCAA Basketball Tournament. However, during the WarnerMedia upfronts on May 15 the studio announced that the show, which features The Walking Dead alum Steve Ogg, has already been granted a second season ahead of its premiere in 2020.

WarnerMedia screened footage of Snowpiercer for a rapt audience of marketing executives and critics at their upfront presentation before announcing the big news. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the preview lead of a noticeable “hush” that fell upon the audience at Madison Square Garden. That’s a good sign for a show that has been in development forever, it seems, and it looks like it paid off because the reaction is exactly what WarnerMedia wanted to see.

Snowpiercer is adapted from a story by Bong Joon-ho which features a train moving through the snowy wasteland following a massive apocalyptic event. The only way to survive is to be on this train, but life’s not easy there, either. Like the different floors of the Titanic, the Snowpiercer train is set up in a similar fashion with the affluent passengers in the nicer cars at the front while the less fortunate people are stuck in the caboose trying to survive. Needless to say, this model can’t last forever.

Steven Ogg signed on to the show in August 2018 and has expressed his excitement on his social media channels despite a great deal of turmoil among showrunners behind the scenes.
