Fear The Walking Dead season 3 started a shift in the direction of the show. These episodes are the ones that you can’t miss if you’re getting caught up before season 5.

Season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead took the show in a very different direction from the first two seasons. There were some surprising reunions, some surprising deaths, and some surprising revelations from some of the characters about their pasts.

This season put the survivors in a unique situation surrounded by people who weren’t necessarily ready to welcome them and made the survivors confront some of their own moral codes and reconsider what they were willing to do to survive. It also made them reconsider what a society should look like, and if society was even worth fighting for.

There were some real standout episodes this season that showcased the talent of the cast, directors, and crew in some gritty and dark episodes that were a big change from the look and feel of the first two seasons. At this point in the apocalypse survival is getting tougher and not everyone is interested in helping people survive.

Season 3 was kind of a divisive season among the fans with some really liking the new direction and some not very happy with it. But season 3 was the push that the show needed in order to make some even bigger changes in season 4. Here are the episodes that our panel felt were the best or the essential episodes of season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead:

Fear The Walking Dead Essential Episodes of Season 3

What episodes of season 3 do you think are the best or essential episodes?

Sonya says:

"This season I really liked, after not really caring for the first two that much. I think the essential episodes to watch in season 3 are 301 “Eye Of The Beholder” and 302 “The New Frontier” because they set up the rest of the season and have some major plot changes. Also essential to watch are: 304 “100”, 307 “The Unveiling”, 308 “Children Of Wrath”, 313 “This Land Is Your Land” and the season finale 316 “Sleigh Ride”."

Sara says:

"I agree with 316 “Sleigh Ride”. I absolutely loved the season 3 finale! Season 3 was such a brilliant season and it got such an epic ending! There was so much action and really great character interactions here! The whole season was building up towards this epic finale!"

Jeffrey says:

"My pick for season 3 is absolutely 313 “This Land Is Your Land”. An episode that places Alicia right in the middle of an impossibly difficult crisis. Pushing her into a leadership position to unite two sparing groups allows Alicia to really demonstrate her growth as character and ability to adapt. There’s also tons of epic walker action and development in the relationship between the brothers."

Renee says:

"I have to choose 301 “Eye Of The Beholder”. In my opinion this was the turning point of when Fear went from being a good show to a great show! I honestly had trouble keeping interest with this series until Season 3. And, once this season opened with one of the best episodes up until this point it just continued to get better and better."
