It has been a tumultuous upfront season for Lauren Cohan’s freshman dramedy Whiskey Cavalier but the cancellation isn’t set in stone just yet.

With so much pressure on networks to make scheduling decisions during upfront season it’s no wonder that sometimes shows that were cancelled get a second look. While rare, it does happen. This time around fortune might favor The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan as Whiskey Cavalier gets another look at ABC and beyond.

Once shows are cancelled they become fair game for other networks looking to fill spots in their schedules. Whiskey Cavalier showrunners have been shopping the show all over in hopes of finding a new home and so far there haven’t been any takers.

Surprisingly, there have been whispers that ABC has more room in its mid-season schedule than originally thought, and so Whiskey Cavalier could make a comeback at the same network. Though there has been no movement on the idea, the fact that the possibility is out there is enough reason for fans to get excited, and for showrunners to wait with fingers crossed to see what happens.

Lauren Cohan has been rumored to return to The Walking Dead in season 10. There has been talk since her season 9 exit that more Maggie stories exist and it’s just a matter of making the schedule work for her. Obviously not having Whiskey Cavalier would facilitate a return, but it doesn’t have to happen in order for her to come back. However, the number of episodes she appears in, and whether or not she returns for future projects or even season 11, could be tied to her attachment to Whiskey Cavalier.

The Kids are Alright is also hoping for a miracle after the Michael Cudlitz comedy was axed at ABC after one season. The show’s cancellation was a surprise given that the ratings were fairly strong week to week. The Rookie, starring Fear the Walking Dead alum Mercedes Mason, was given a second season at ABC.
