Fear The Walking Dead season 5 character predictions: Luciana

After a terrible loss last year Luciana seemed to find purpose again with the group but will that be enough to keep her going? Our panel has some predictions for Luciana in season 5.

Luciana struggled a little after Nick’s death last season on Fear The Walking Dead but her commitment to being part of the group and working towards a community gave her a sense of purpose and brought her back from the edge after a period of mourning Nick.

Luciana has always been someone that prefers to be in a community. Although she has the skills to survive on  her own and has done it before, like when she left Brokejaw Ranch on her own in season 3, she is a team player who thrives in a community setting.

Because she is at her best when she’s helping others the group’s new plan to use the factory as a home base but to roam the area looking for people who need help is a great plan for her. Helping others will make her feel like she’s doing work that has meaning, but will it give her the sense of redemption that she’s looking for?

Losing the stadium community was difficult for Luciana because she needs to have a sense of connection to a home and to a community. But in the apocalypse world communities are an illusion of safety. The building and walls always fall either to walkers or to villains and the people inside once again need to run for their lives. Maybe this new approach to the apocalypse world where they are seeking out people to help instead of waiting for people to find them is exactly what Luciana needs.

Our panel has some thoughts on what be coming for Luciana this season:

Sonya says:

"I think Luciana will really come into her strength this season. Because it’s so important to her to help people this type of mission where they are actively going to help people in trouble is something that will give her the meaning she felt like she lost when Nick died. I hope that she is able to find some peace through this work but I also hope she doesn’t get so invested in the work that it consumes her."

Sara says:

"I’d love to see Luciana have some more scenes with the women of the group! She & Alicia must still be mourning Nick, so it would be nice getting to see how they have possibly helped each other cope with his death."

Jeffrey says:

"The fact that she met Polar Bear himself last season gives her a personal connection to the operation he established and that the group hopes to continue. Luciana really seems to want to make up for the things she did in the past, so we may see her spearheading this operation while also working to build bridges with those she was once at odds with. Perhaps she will be able to find common ground with Charlie this season after all the turmoil they went through following Nick’s death."
