Will Alicia take the lead the way her mother did on Fear The Walking Dead? Our panel predicts Alicia’s path in Season 5.

In the beginning of Fear The Walking Dead most people would not have predicted that Alicia would be the last Clark standing. But she’s got a lot of her mother’s strength and after facing down her own grief and anger at the loss of her brother and mother last season Alicia has made helping others her life’s work, the way her mother did.

Alicia has also forged an interesting bond with Morgan. In many ways they’re similar. In the beginning of The Walking Dead Morgan couldn’t kill his wife who had turned and as a result he lost her and his son. He became a methodical and efficient killer after that.

Alicia, who early in the apocalypse would have been an easy pick to not survive the apocalypse, has now channeled all her grief and rage into killing with a purpose. She’s a fearless killer of both people and walkers. Alicia can clear a herd practically by herself and her skills are only improving over time.

But she doesn’t seem interested in bonding with anyone other than the close knit group she’s already with. She’s decided that killing is her purpose and she’s focused solely on that. She doesn’t want to get close to any of the people that they help. Will that change over the course of season 5 or will Alicia slip further into dissociation as she continues to be the primary fighter of the group? Our panel has some thoughts on how Alicia might evolve this season.

Alicia Clark In Fear The Walking Dead Season 5

What do you think will be Alicia’s arc in FearTWD season 5? Obviously she’ll continue to be a killing machine, but what about her emotional development?

Sonya says:

"I think Alicia has decided that how she can keep part of Madison alive is to take on the role of protector which is what Madison always did for her and Nick. So I think that she’s going to stay in the headspace where her job is just to kill and she’ll leave the emotional stuff to the others. But eventually she’s going to have to stop running from her feelings and that’s going to be tough for her."

Sara says:

"I really want to see Alicia become more upfront and center. Even though the group operates as a group, it would be nice getting to see Alicia take the lead sometimes. I think she is more than capable of being a great leader, and I’m really hoping we get to see that this season."

Jeffrey says:

"This is a character who has really proven herself to be a leader in every sense. It would make sense for her to step up and help to lead the group in their distribution of the supply boxes. She has lost her entire family, so I definitely think that we will continue to see her dealing with the deaths of Madison and Nick. She may choose to fight harder than ever now that she is the last Clark left standing. It would also be really fitting for her to continue to build upon the relationship that was established between her and Charlie last season."
