Fear The Walking Dead season 5 predictions: Charlie
By Sonya Iryna
Charlie has had an extraordinary arc on Fear The Walking Dead already and she’s only getting started. The panel has predictions for Charlie in season 5.
When Charlie appeared at the beginning of Fear the Walking Dead season 4 none of the fans knew then how pivotal she would end up being to the story. She was a victim when she was seen as the pawn of the Vultures, and a villain when she killed Nick, and then a traumatized child when she and Alicia were face to face locked together in “Open Your Eyes”.
Charlie and Alicia made their peace with one another and Alicia has taken Charlie under her wing the way that Madison would have wanted her to do. That doesn’t mean that anyone has forgotten what Charlie did, or the havoc she caused.
But one of the primary indicators of survival in that world is being able to set trauma aside and deal with the situation that exists now. And in the ‘now’ people need to separate people from their past deeds and focus on surviving together. That’s what the group has done with Charlie.
Charlie has a lot to make up for but she’s committed to doing her best to get that redemption. Now that she feels safe and has a purpose she’s thriving. Will that continue in season 5? Will Alicia’s advice and support turn Charlie into as good of a fighter as Alicia? Will she be able to hang onto the sweetness and capacity for seeing beauty and goodness that Nick would wish for her? Our panel has some thoughts:
We Need To Talk About Charlie
What will happen for Charlie? What kind of future does she have in that world with the things she’s done?
Sonya says:
"I think Charlie has dealt with an extraordinary amount of loss and uncertainty in ways that were not always healthy but were understandable. I think that despite Nick’s death she and Alicia have a lot in common and Alicia’s steadiness will help Charlie feel safe enough to really grow as a person. I’m excited to see her development this season."
Sara says:
"Charlie has definitely had quite a journey in season 4. It definitely seems like she and Alicia have formed a close bond, so I’m looking forward to seeing more from those two! They have a big/little sister relationship, which I think is so great for the both of them!"
Jeffrey says:
"Season 4 was not easy for her at all. While I initially found myself calling for her death in the episodes that followed her murdering Nick (my all time favorite character), I have come to accept her sincere regret for what she did and can now sympathize with her just like Alicia. I predict that Charlie becomes more of a team player this season as she herself assists in carrying out Polar Bear’s legacy. She wants to make up for the things she did and this is the perfect way to do so."
