Fear the Walking Dead season 5 promo: Come fly the friendly skies
The cast of Fear the Walking Dead isn’t hiding the airplane seen in the trailer and poster, so appropriately the newest promo is a sendup of airline safety spiels.
It’s time to come fly the friendly skies as the cast of Fear the Walking Dead gets ready for season 5 with a fun promo modeled after an airline safety message. It makes perfect sense: There is an airplane that so far has featured heavily in the season 5 trailer, teasers and promo posters. This hilarious sendup of airline safety videos features some good advice along with a few walkers thrown in for effect.
The entire regular series cast of Fear the Walking Dead came together to bring this tongue-in-cheek video to life. The end result is a hilarious tribute to the show featuring lots of inside jokes, Easter Eggs and apocalyptic humor.

Lennie James kicks things off as Morgan, who acknowledges that it has probably been quite some time since anyone was on a plane. Jenna Elfman’s June follows with a message about stowing belongings, including cell phones that won’t work anyway. (A quick cut to the overhead storage bins reveals several pieces of Fear the Walking Dead memorabilia)
Strand and Charlie come next. Strand is in charge of the seat belt demonstration and at the end he voices the same question many of us have thought about during our own flight safety talks: “If you don’t know how to use a seat belt, how did you survive this long?” Charlie points out the location of the exits, complete with a warning about exits (and walkers) that could appear behind you.
Luciana isn’t sure if the slides will work, and after her message about federal regulations about smoking she asks the big question: “Is there still a government?” Alicia demonstrates how to use the oxygen masks, pointing out that you always put yours on first and then you can help the person next to you, even if it’s a walker.
John Dorie talks us through the flotation devices, but he’s more concerned about underwater walkers because we know they’re down there. Althea suggests looking over the safety card, or else. And lastly Morgan thanks everyone for flying, even though there might not be a choice in carriers anymore.
Lighthearted as it might be, it’s a lot of fun to see the cast having fun ahead of the season 5 premiere. The Walking Dead universe deals with a lot of dark themes and death and blood and gore, so seeing the cast outside their normal element is fun.
Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
