The excitement is building for Fear the Walking Dead season 5 and that excitement is evident as star Alycia Debnam-Carey takes over the show’s Instagram account ahead of the season premiere on June 2. Debnam-Carey has been sharing all kinds of fun content so far and there’s no question that she’s having a good time doing it!

One of the many perks of cast members taking over the Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead social media accounts is that they often share never before seen looks at life on set. While it’s hard work to bring a show of Fear’s scope to life, not to mention the pressure of constantly dealing with so much heavy content, there are often some lighthearted moments of levity on set.

Seeing Debnam-Carey in a field of bluebonnets in such a joyful moment is a stark contrast to the symbolism of bluebonnets in the show. Nick and Madison shared a touching moment in a field of bluebonnets in season 4, and it wasn’t long after that when they both died. Nick died in the present-day story while Madison had died in the show’s past, but the field of bluebonnets tied the two timelines together for a brief and touching moment.

We had a chance to talk with Debnam-Carey at WonderCon 2019 about how she balances things out, and she talked about wearing lots of bright colors whenever things get bloody on set. She might be covered in blood and grime on set, but she takes the first chance she gets to change in to vibrant and stylish clothing as soon as she can to counteract the darkness.
