Fear the Walking Dead season 5 premiere recap: Here to Help

Outside, Alicia continues her assault on the walkers when Morgan finds her. Her hands are bloody, either from the accident or from using the propeller blade, and he tells her that they’re probably 10-15 miles from the landing site. When she says they might not make it, he says they will do it. Logan calls though on the radio, asking where they are, and Morgan tells him that they’re still coming, it just might take longer than expected.

They need to buy some time to allow John time to get the cockpit open, so Alicia goes to work setting up a tripwire for the walkers.

Al tries to radio Strand, telling him to go back to the mill to get her tapes. One of them is called “Skidmark” and the guy on it, she says, has a small plane. The radio doesn’t seem to be working, and there’s no time to keep trying. John tells her that they’re probably out of range and they have to go.

Dylan tries to reassure Luciana, telling her that they’re trying to help. June jumps down from the side of the plane and tells the boys that she’s a nurse and that she’s there to help. Luciana tells June not to stay there because of her, but naturally that’s not an option.

As Alicia fights walkers outside she falls into a bunch of debris, and one of the signs warns against radiation. It’s a nuclear site.

John and Al come inside and June tells them they need to cut Luciana free from the metal bar. Al remembers that there were hacksaws in the boxes so they go out to to find one. Al discovers that her camera has been tossed from its bag and it’s recording. As she works to get it a walker attacks her. It’s wearing some kind of protective armor and a mask, and she’s able to push it onto a piece of metal so that it’s pinned to the ground. She films it for a moment and then she leaves when John finds a saw.

Back inside the plane June is getting ready to cut the piece of metal. Al’s holding the metal in place while John gets the saw ready. Poor Luciana is in agony, but June is completely calm.

Once Luciana is free they put her on a stretcher and go outside, where Alicia and Morgan are still working. Al gives Alicia her weapon back, and Alicia starts to call out orders to the group on how they’re going to make it out of there.
