1. Always wear gloves

A zombie apocalypse is a tough place. Walkers are around every corner and likely number in the millions. Plus, humans can be just as big of a threat as the flesh-eating monsters they will eventually become.

There are some things people can do to prepare themselves for whatever may come. Traveling in groups, wearing multiple layers, and staying on your toes are three examples of these techniques, but something as simple as wearing gloves can make a big difference.

In the season 5 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, Alicia grabs a piece of the crashed airplane and uses it as a weapon to take out a huge number of walkers…but in doing so she also did a number on her hands.

Morgan pointed out that her hands were gushing blood from her tight grip on the piece of debris she weaponized. Had she been protecting her hands from walkers as well as sharp things, she would have been a much more effective, and safe, fighter.

What we learned: Always wear gloves or have them ready
