Fan favorite Daniel Salazar returns to Fear The Walking Dead in this week’s new episode and our panel has thoughts on how Daniel will react to seeing Strand again.

It’s great to have Daniel Salazar back on Fear The Walking Dead. Daniel is one of the few characters from season 1 remaining and he’s always brought a great presence to the show. Daniel Salazar is a fascinating character. He is trained in torture techniques but like most people with violent training he prefers not to use it unless necessary. He’s proven that he’s a survivor, but without his wife and his daughter he lacks purpose.

Daniel has always had a strained relationship with Victor. Daniel is a very shrewd judge of character and can size people up immediately. He knew from the very first meeting that Victor was a con man and someone who would look out for his own interests first.

At the dam Daniel didn’t have any ethical concerns about leaving Strand to face the consequences for his actions. The only reason Daniel was willing to help them at the dam was because Strand said that he knew where Ofelia was and because he always had a good relationship with Madison.

Now Ofelia is gone, and Strand was the one who prevented Daniel from getting to her at the bazaar before she died. Madison is gone, and the last time Daniel saw Victor it was at the dam where Victor shot Daniel in the face. It’s safe to say that Victor’s sweating this reunion a little bit.

Strand is a master of talking his way out of trouble that he’s gotten himself into, but Daniel Salazar is never going to buy any of what Strand is selling. How will Daniel react when Strand shows up asking for the plane so that he can rescue the others? Our panel has some thoughts:

The Strand/Salazar Reunion

How do you think Daniel and Strand’s reunion will go?

Sonya says:

"I’ve seen this episode so it’s a little difficult for me to answer this question but I will say that I wasn’t disappointed. The relationship between these two is so great. Daniel is never fooled by Strand, but he is also a pragmatist who has a good grasp on every situation. He’s never going to act in a rash way. Whatever Daniel does he will have solid reasons for his actions."

Sara says:

"I’m really excited to see their reunion! I don’t think that Strand was expecting to hear or see Daniel Salazar again so this reunion could be amazing. I can’t wait to see these characters reunite and share what they both have been through and see how that will affect their relationship going forward."

Jeffrey says:

"We have no idea what Daniel has been up to since we last saw him at the end of season 3 when the dam exploded. A significant amount of time has passed, so it’s very possible that he has changed as a person and isn’t at all the same. That being said, his rocky history with Strand is surely going to lead to a tense standoff between the two regardless. They have never gotten along, so I definitely think they will need to talk through all of their problems before they can move forward."

Renee says:

"They are both strong personalities so it will be interesting. Daniel will have the upper hand since Strand will be reaching out to him. I am excited to see what happens with these two as they are both favorites of mine."

Ethan says:

"I think at first Daniel and Strand will butt heads but I believe that once Daniel has found out about Madison and Nick he will have a change of heart. I see them becoming a strong pair."

Timothy says:

"I’m sure Salazar will point a gun at Strand, be angry, and Strand will talk his way out of it."

Sarabeth says:

"I love these two and I’m really excited for both characters to see how they have changed since they last saw each other. They might be polar opposites but there is a fundamental understanding between them that can’t be ignored. That said, it’s going to be bumpy at first."
