Fear the Walking Dead 502 recap: The Hurt That Will Happen

Grace checks the bodies while Morgan kills a walker. He asks again about the stick, but Grace says he’ll never be able to have it back because it’s made of wood and wood is porous. Alicia is eager to get out of there but the fence has been knocked down which happened when Alicia fell after the crash) and it’s the only thing keeping the irradiated walkers from leaving the area. As they talk, a group of walkers approaches. Alicia refuses to hand over the gun, even when Grace points out the bubbly-faced walker with a dosimeter around his neck. She offers to kill them safely while they set up new fencing. Alicia prepares her weapon and goes into “clear mode.”

Before she can reach them, the walkers start falling into the muddy pit. The dosimeter falls off and Alicia can’t tell which walker was wearing it. They start to overpower her while Morgan helps Grace with her supplies. She manages to kill two walkers with one hit. Alicia gives Grace her gun back when she finds the radiation walker. Grace shoots it and Alicia kills the walkers attacking her .

Later that night they finish wrapping up the bodies. Grace tells Alicia that she understands the need to find her friend but she doesn’t think her friend would want Alicia to die. Grace grabs the dosimeter from the mud. Morgan realizes that she knew these walkers. Grace explains that she worked at the plant in Operations and she called everyone in to work when the world started falling apart. They brought in their families, but it was too late. The plant was failing as the cities fell and when she realized that no one needed the power, they started to run out of supplies. Now there are 63 more walkers out there she needs to find in order to complete her mission.

John calls on the radio and tells them that they found walkers with dosimeters on them at the camp. Grace tells them not to touch anything.

When they arrive Grace checks the burned bones for radiation. John reassures her that they stayed upwind. Grace says that whoever burned the bodies would be sick now, and June reveals the walkers inside the cabins. This is why they have to find the bodies, because the dead are literally killing them by proximity alone.

Luciana tries to reach Strand and they finally connect. She tells Strand that it’s not safe there and he assures her that he found the plane and will be on his way to help. As they talk, the signal cuts out. Strand asks Salazar if he believes him now. He does.

Luciana goes outside to investigate. The radio tower fell down, which means she can’t communicate with Strand anymore.
