Fear the Walking Dead 502 review: Toxic people
Standout Moments
Grace’s arrival on the show was a big moment. Hearing her talk about her connection to the nuclear walkers and her role in their deaths was so powerful, especially coming off HBO’s Chernobyl series. After a combined five seasons of Fear the Walking Dead and nine seasons of The Walking Dead, the subject of nuclear power plants has never been given this kind of attention and it’s absolutely appropriate. It’s also the perfect way to give Greg Nicotero’s amazing FX team a new challenge.
Alicia’s admission that she was supposed to be taking care of people, and her belief that she’s failing miserably, was also a major moment. Alicia has really risen to the occasion as a leader of the group and Al’s disappearance is weighing heavily on her after losing the denim factory to Logan. The fact that she’s upset about it shows how far she has come and how much like her mother she truly is.
Meeting Skidmark was another standout moment. Fans knew an adorable ginger cat was coming in season 5 thanks to the trailer, but no one suspected that Skidmark would be Salazar’s partner in crime. It’s somehow fitting that the man with nine lives has a feline companion.
Fear the Walking Dead continues next Sunday at 9pm on AMC.
