Fear TWD 502: Who originally owned Skidmark and the warehouse?
The New Daniel Salazar
When we first met Daniel Salazar in season 1 he was hiding his past as someone who used to torture people for a living back in El Salvador. Once the truth came to light he was plagued by the demons of his past, and upon his second rebirth he embraced those skills to help control the dam.
Time has passed, and Salazar has softened a bit. He’s still tough as ever, but he’s listening and he’s almost compassionate toward Strand even though he doesn’t trust him. Something has changed him. It could be losing his daughter Ofelia, which comes on the heels of losing his wife back in Los Angeles.
What Salazar doesn’t realize yet is that Strand has been on a similar journey. He, too, has lost people. Talking about Madison and Nick was enough to knock the wind from his sails and Salazar could see this. Both men have changed and hopefully they will eventually see it in each other, which could lead to a truce between them.
First things first. Strand needs to figure out how to help the rest of the group. Once he does that, and now that Salazar is back, he might be the perfect person to help the group regain control of the denim factory. He might help the group see that they don’t really need the factory anymore because he’s sitting on an impressive cache of supplies, too.
Then again, Salazar might not want to be a team player anymore. It’s never gotten him anywhere and he’s doing just fine on his own. Well, on his own with Skidmark.
It’s unclear where Salazar will fit into the rest of season 5 at this point, but let’s hope he reveals how he came upon the warehouse and Skidmark because as Al would say, there’s a story there.
Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
