Dwight made the crossover from The Walking Dead to Fear The Walking Dead this week and our panelists had some thoughts about his arrival.

Dwight is the second character from The Walking Dead to cross over to Fear The Walking Dead. He had a run in with John and June as he was searching for Sherry. He mentioned that he’d been looking for Sherry for over a year, which means that Fear The Walking Dead is currently at about the same place time wise as The Walking Dead was at the start of season 9 when there was about a year and a half time jump from the end of All Out War.

Dwight’s arrival ties the two shows together and anchors viewers firmly in The Walking Dead universe. Having characters crossing between shows is a smart way to expand The Walking Dead world and take viewers from one set of stories into another. With a second spinoff in the works set to start filming this year sometime the ability for characters to cross in and out of other shows opens up endless possibilities for ongoing storylines.

But for now it was just nice to see that Dwight is alive and still looking for Sherry. Dwight has done bad things, but everyone has done bad things to stay alive. Dwight has paid for his crimes more than most considering the punishments he endured from Negan. And while some fans weren’t happy about the crossover because they felt it took attention away from the FearTWD originals most people, including some of our panelists, were thrilled to see Dwight’s debut on Fear The Walking Dead:

Dwight Crosses Over

What was your reaction to Dwight’s arrival in Fear the Walking Dead?

Sonya says:

"I was very excited to see Dwight and I thought the storyline that brought him into the group was great. It felt very authentic to who Dwight is, and who John and June are also. It was really Morgan’s reaction to Dwight that made me emotional though. He looked at Dwight the way Rick looked at Morgan when Morgan appeared at Alexandria, like he couldn’t believe it was really him. It was a great moment."

Sara says:

"I was so excited to finally see Dwight in Fear! After not seeing him in TWD for so long, it felt like a nice Christmas gift getting to see him in Fear! I already love seeing John & Dwight team up together, he really fits in with this group so well!"

Jeffrey says:

"Seeing Dwight back on screen after so long just felt good. He’s had such a fascinating arc on The Walking Dead, and his crossover only allows for it to be expanded and for more facets of his character to be explored. It was absolutely surreal to see him interacting with John, June, Alicia and the other Fear characters. I was smiling nonstop the whole time he was on screen."

Ethan says:

"I loved Dwight’s arrival, i just don’t feel it was hyped up as much as it should have compared to Morgan’s crossover!"
