3. New Faces
It’s still early enough that no new casting news for season 10 has been released, so perhaps there will be some revelations about new characters in the trailer. SDCC is the place to reveal big news, after all, so what better time to do it than when the whole cast is together and the fandom is about to see the new trailer?
With so many changes from the comic books, new characters could follow canon (i.e. the Commonwealth) or be entirely new. Having some new faces in the trailer would be lots of fun, to be sure. Speculating about who they are would certainly help pass the time until the show returns in October.
2. New Threats
Will the Whisperers be the only threats we’ll see in the season 10 trailer, or will a new enemy rise as the Whisperers continue terrorizing the group?
The Walking Dead is known for throwing curve balls to the fans and it’s very likely that as we prepare to see a war between the survivors and the Whisperers, a new threat will rise up. It could be the people who took Rick. It could be something, or someone, completely new to the universe, come to throw a wrench into the works.
1. Rick Grimes
At this point the most likely way that Rick Grimes is coming back to The Walking Dead is when Andrew Lincoln comes to direct an episode. It’s not likely that we’ll see Rick in the trailer, but there might be clues to his whereabouts, especially if there is news at SDCC about the three Rick Grimes movies and how they tie into the extended universe.
However, seeing Rick in season 10, or seeing the helicopter people return all these years later, would be the biggest revelations in the SDCC trailer and possibly indicate where the show is going and how they tie into the movies.
Fans are hoping that the end of Michonne’s story on the show somehow ties into being reunited with Rick somehow, and it would be a fitting sendoff for Danai Gurira to have Michonne finally have a happy ending. And at this point seeing Rick Grimes again would be a welcome sight.

There is no telling what The Walking Dead SDCC trailer will reveal, but one thing is clear: Fans are ready to see what’s coming in season 10, and with so many changes coming it’s going to be thrilling to get a first look at what we can expect.
