Fear the Walking Dead 504 review: The plot thickens
The Plot Thickens
Morgan and Alicia were given a bird’s eye view to one of the biggest mysteries they have encountered yet: Who are the helicopter people? There’s no question that the kids are terrified of the armored soldiers who arrived in their helicopter, but now that they have left the area we have to wonder if Al is with them. It would make sense, because they were the ones who captured her. But now that they have flown away it’s going to be that much more difficult to track them down.
Seeing the helicopter cemented the idea that the shows are now tied together in ways that are much bigger than just the occasional character crossover. Not only are the shows tied together, but the helicopter now joins the shows and the Rick Grimes movies since we know that Rick left on a helicopter.
What’s more is that the cigar that Salazar had might have belonged to none other than Abraham Ford.
At this point despite the early conviction that the shows would never overlap or cross over, I think that the Fear the Walking Dead team have demonstrated that the crossovers allow for some interesting storytelling, and what they’re doing now ties into the greater Walking Dead universe that is being created.
Now that we’re halfway through the first half of season 5, the foundation has been laid for a big story to finish 5A and lead into 5B and I’m here for it.
Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
