After Fear the Walking Dead 505 fans want to know more about the Helicopter People, but it’s entirely possible that we’ve seen them already.

There’s plenty of reason to believe that the first stirrings of a crossover between The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead came about during Fear’s season 3, since the machinations of  Morgan’s departure from the flagship show to the companion series had to be worked out. If this is the case, then it’s quite possible that fans have already seen the Helicopter People and their origins might be based on the other coast of the United States.

It took nine seasons for a helicopter to show up again on The Walking Dead. Aside from the helicopter Rick saw in season 1, there had been no sign of anything flying through the air short of the plane spotted over Rick’s shoulder by eagle-eyed fans. Then, in season 9, the helicopters came back into play to provide Andrew Lincoln a way to leave the show for a trio of Rick Grimes movies. By the time Rick left, the show had already jumped several months ahead of the Fear the Walking Dead season 5.

Helicopters have been seen on Fear the Walking Dead dating back to when the world collapsed in season 1 and as recently as season 3. Troy Otto and his soldier friends had all kinds of military technology at their disposal. Travis lost his life after being shot down while in a helicopter, and Jake Otto hinted to Alicia that there were other communities out there that might be better off than Broke Jaw Ranch, suggesting that resources like helicopters aren’t as rare as they might seem.
