Fear the Walking Dead 505 recap: The End of Everything
The next day we find Al tied up in the back of an SUV. The car is rocking because Al is trying to free herself. Her camera and tapes are there but the one tape in question is missing. Al looks around and sees a bald walker outside of the perimeter fencing that Soldier must have set up. She calls to him, whistling like he’s a dog, and when he comes over he’s dragging barbed wire. She kicks him away while also trying to reach the barbed wire, and once she’s free she uses the car door to smash in his head.
Instead of running away, Al takes a moment to figure out what Soldier is trying to protect. The perimeter circles some trees, and beyond them is the helicopter. Al immediately tries to start it but it’s out of fuel, and there’s no response on the radio when she calls Morgan.
Soldier returns to find her in the cockpit, just as someone on the radio starts asking for an update from “Ground 17.” Soldier grabs Al, who knows she needs to respond, and throws her from the cockpit to answer the call. The conversation is short and tense: Her partner was killed in action after a “breach in protocol” and she’s not on her way back because she needs to refuel. The package is secure, though. She says she could be on her way in 72 hours, but the voice on the other end says that they will send a reclamation team. Soldier sets her watch alarm and aims a gun at Al’s head.
Despite the situation, Al asks what a “reclamation team” is. She doesn’t get a response.
Soldier leads her away from the helicopter and asks where the tape is. She knocks Al to the ground, again, and says she’s going to break one of her legs. Al says this will kill her, so she won’t talk because she’s spiteful like that. If Soldier tells her story she will give her the tape. Al says her friends need a ride out of there, too, so she tries to bargain with her. Soldier doesn’t give up, but eventually concedes that she needs fuel.
Al asks where they’re getting fuel, and Soldier says they have to get to the fuel drop, which happens to be at the top of the mountain that Al and the group needed to fly over.
