Fear the Walking Dead 505 recap: The End of Everything

The next day Soldier is already up and about as Al wakes up. They have to hurry. Al leads them to a walker by the river, which is where she hid the tape. She gives Soldier the tape, and Soldier doesn’t even bother checking it on the camera. She pours some powder on the tape and lights it on fire. Al watches, knowing her time is short.

Soldier faces her and says the tape is only part of the story, but no one can know about them or the mission. She orders Al to turn around, adding “please” when Al gives her a look. She aims a gun at Al’s head. Al knew she would kill her there and she wants her to understand that she gets it. She gives her The Bog #7 and tells her to make sure the story matters, and that her brother’s memory lives on.

Al closes her eyes and waits for her to pull the trigger. “I want you to live!” Soldier proclaims. She warns her against chasing the story and hopes she finds her friends. When Al turns around, Soldier tells her that her name is Isabelle and she’s from Indiana. And she just saw the prettiest thing since the end of the world: Al. They share a very passionate kiss.

Al follows Isabelle to the clearing and then they part ways. Isabelle has the fuel and we see her on the road taking out the walkers near where Max and Annie saw her. She continues on to the helicopter, adding the fuel and then getting inside. She starts it up and calls in, saying she’s ready to return. The reclamation team is being cancelled and she is free to return with the payload. She looks at the tape before taking off.

Once the helicopter is in the air, Al watches it fly away. She turns around with her eyes closed, and then she takes a breath and calls Morgan. It turns out that she’s nearby, because after a few moments Morgan and Alicia find her. They’re confused but they hug her and tell her that they have been looking for her. She explains that she got overrun by the dead, but that there was no story at the plane crash site. Alicia asks if she saw the helicopter, and she says she didn’t. Morgan says they’ll find a new way out, and hopefully with their new friends. The children walk out and Al becomes emotional at seeing all of the new people.

Before they leave, she reveals that her last name is a hyphenation of her Polosh parents’ last names. She just wants them to know that. They smile at her and keep walking.

Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
