Kevin Zegers is known as Mel on Fear the Walking Dead and fans can meet his fictional character on Talking Dead parody show What Just Happened??!

As the leader of a group called the Vultures on Fear the Walking Dead, Kevin Zegers got to show off his charisma and acting skills. However, his most recent gig on a show parodying Talking Dead may be his most interesting and challenging one yet.

Zegers landed the fictional lead role on the fictional television show The Flare, which is based on the fictional books by TJ Whitford in the fictional “The Moon Is the Sun at Night” series. Sound confusing? Well, it is…a little.

The show What Just Happened??! is the post-show discussion program on FOX for this fake show. It airs on Sunday nights and had its premiere episode on June 30, 2019 to a less-than-stellar audience and lukewarm reviews.

However, there is something very charming about this show that makes it unique and fun. Perhaps it is how seriously former The Wonder Years star Fred Savage takes the show and book in comparison to his co-host, comedienne Taylor Tomlinson, who is more into the celebrity and action The Flare has to offer.

Unsurprisingly, the first guest on What Just Happened??! was Kevin Zegers, who not only was in a “clip” for The Flare but took part in a talk show segment as well. And, at the heart of things, that is what this show is: a fun talk show hosted by Savage which blends improv and sketches to create a nice parody of shows like Talking Dead. In fact, Rob Lowe was the second guest on the show and was also quite entertaining.

Keep in mind, this show will definitely not be for everyone. The tongue-in-cheek humor and parallels to post-show discussion programs will have a limited appeal, but for those interested who don’t mind the bad time slot the show has for fans of The Walking Dead universe, it is definitely worth checking out at least once to find out if it appeals to you.

Keep in mind, this review is based only on the series premiere and more episodes could prove this show worth investing in for the long-term or one that fizzles out. But right now it’s interesting enough to give a try!
