Interesting character from the comics to join The Walking Dead in season 10
By Adam Carlson
Fans of The Walking Dead comics are aware of the impact Dante has on the comic book series and soon he will join the characters on the popular TV show.
Season 9 of The Walking Dead saw many great characters from the comics make their debut on the AMC television series. Individuals like Magna, Yumiko, Connie, Luke, Alpha, Beta, Lydia, and others joined the fray and make the season one of the most exciting yet.
Now, as season 10 prepares to hit television screens this fall, those characters are likely to face many challenges from humans and the undead…as well as possibly meet more new characters from the comics.
Recently, Entertainment Weekly confirmed in an interview with showrunner Angela Kang that at least one character from the now complete source material will be added to the list of survivors: Dante.
Here is what she had to say about him in the EW exclusive interview:
"“We’ll be meeting the character Dante from the comics. He is this roguish, fast-talking, sometimes charming, sometimes annoying guy who can sometimes put his foot in his mouth, but is an interesting presence in the comics.”"
What she leaves out of her description is that he has the MAJOR hots for Maggie in the comics and pursues her heart relentlessly, even though she is still hung up on Glenn and not ready to start seeing other people.
Since Maggie is rumored to be making her return to the series after being away in season 9, there is a chance that Dante and Maggie have already met while she was with Georgie’s group and he will escort her back to the Hilltop.
Another situation is that Dante is already a survivor with one of the groups who just hasn’t been focused on by the show. Or maybe he will be part of a whole new group of survivors. There are quite a few options as to how he could make his debut.
At this time, it’s hard to know if Dante will be similar to his comic book counterpart other than in the ways Angela Kang revealed in her interview. However, it is nice to know that despite all the changes that have been made to the AMC series, characters like Dante can still have a role in the story being told on The Walking Dead.
