The plane might not be the best way out on Fear the Walking Dead
By Sonya Iryna
The group on Fear the Walking Dead is desperately trying to fix the plane to get out of the area but what are their options if they can’t fix it? Is there another way to get back to the factory?
Most of season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead so far has centered on the group trying to figure out a way to get out of the radiation zone. When Strand, Charlie, and the twins weren’t able to procure a plane to come and get them they decided to try and fix the crashed plane.
That attempt isn’t going so well. And now, according to Grace, they’re going to need to get out of the area pretty fast because the second nuclear reactor is starting to melt down. Strand and Charlie managed to get them the propellers they need thanks to Jimbo’s hot air balloon beer bottle but if they can’t get the rest of the plane’s problems fixed they may need to start thinking about other ways to get out.
Even if they can fix the plane it’s highly likely that the plane won’t be able to take them all. If Alicia can convince Annie and the kids to leave that plane may not be able to fly with all of the kids,
Alicia, Morgan, John, June, Dwight, Althea, Luciana, Charlie, Strand, and possibly Grace on board.
It’s time for this group to start thinking about some other possible ways to get over the mountains and back to the factory area where they came from. Or, they should consider just getting out of the area and starting over again further down the road where it’s safe. Our panelists had some interesting thoughts about what alternatives might be open to the group if they can’t get the plane fixed:
Other Escape Options
The group of survivors on Fear the Walking Dead can fight walkers without any problem, but they can’t fight a nuclear meltdown. If they can’t get the plane fixed what do you think their best plan of action to get out of the area is?
Sonya says:
"I think that since they’re so short on time they should find vehicles and head out to find a new area. Logan took over the factory, and if they can’t get back over the mountains they should just accept it’s time to leave and move on to find a new place to set up a community. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve had to start all over.Even if they can get the plane fixed it’s still going to be a dangerous trip and if the plane crashes again in the mountains they’ll be in even worse trouble. If I were in that situation I’d definitely just find some vehicles, gather some supplies, and go. They could try hiking through the mountains but that’s dangerous too, especially with kids."
Sara says:
"If they can’t get the plane fixed, they are going to need to find an R.V. or truck of some sort and get out of there. The roads won’t be the safest, but then they must move quickly."
Jeffrey says:
"I feel that the group may find themselves tasked with assisting in Grace’s mission to stop the meltdown. Morgan specifically seems like he would disregard Grace’s warnings and run straight to the plant to help her do what she needs to do to stop the meltdown. The possible nuclear meltdown is a massive threat that could endanger countless lives, so the group may decide that stopping it from happening is worth risking their lives. After all, this season’s theme is all about helping people and this would be the ultimate way to help."
Renee says:
"I think they need to head towards the factory. They have a much larger group now, assuming the kids all come with them and the factory would have plenty of room for them and anyone else they find along the way"
Ethan says:
"I have no clue. Maybe the water? But we’ve seen that in Season 2. I have no clue, but i do think they will figure it out!"
Sara L says:
"I’m honestly at a bit of a loss here, I’m not sure. There only option I can see is to find some sort of gear that can protect them, then try to find a strong vehicle like a semi to try and get out of there while being a safe as possible."
