TWD at SDCC 2019: Join The Walking Dead Horde fan event

Fans of The Walking Dead have an opportunity to dress as walkers to help make history with the TWD Horde at Petco Park during SDCC 2019. 

The Walking Dead always has a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con, but this year is a very special year as the show celebrates its tenth season. To commemorate the occasion, AMC wants fans to dress as walkers and flood Petco Park for a monumental photo shoot with the cast. The event photo will be made into one of the season 10 posters.

SDCC 2019 kicks off on July 17 for Preview Night and then the event officially begins on July 18. The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead panels take place on Friday, July 19, and then fans will gather en masse on Saturday for a fan photo for the ages.

Here’s the official event description from AMC:

"You’re invited to join AMC’s The Walking Dead at the biggest walker horde ever. Be a part of a one-of-a-kind photo to celebrate the upcoming monumental 10th season of TWD this Fall. Come to Petco Park in your best walker wear, walk the Dead Carpet, and snarl for the camera! Cast members are scheduled to appear, so it’s your chance to show them you can walk the walk. When the outfield is teeming with walkers, we’ll snap an exclusive photo that will be made into a TWD limited edition poster. You’ll be able to zoom in online and find yourself amongst the walker madness! Don’t miss this opportunity to be immortalized with cast members and some of the best fans in the universe!"

AMC’s TWD Horde at SDCC begins at 9am and the photo will be taken at 10am. The whole event should wrap up by 11am. The Horde is free and participants will receive an exclusive event t-shirt. To participate, fans must dress as walkers, be 18 or older, and there are no logo shirts, high heels or bright clothing allowed.

It’s important to note that there are no backpacks allowed, and with SDCC in full swing that means any bags full of con swag must be safely stowed elsewhere. (This is actually a huge deal for anyone attending SDCC, because there are very few places to leave gear unless you have a hotel nearby)

One of the best things about participating in the TWD Horde experience is that you don’t need a badge (SDCC speak for ticket) to attend. It’s open to everyone, so anyone who wants to head to San Diego on Saturday can do so and join in the fun.
