3. Freedom!

Ever since the end of All-Out War, Negan has been locked inside a cell at Alexandria with a brief exception when he escaped (only to find his way back inside the cell at his own request after realizing how much the outside world has changed).

Negan earned his freedom at the end of season 9. Not only had he been paying his debt to the survivors for his actions as the leader of the Saviors but he saved everyone inside the house by alerting them to deadly gas and even risked his own life to go after Judith in a massive snowstorm.

With his freedom, it seems as though he will join the fight as the “jelly” to Aaron’s “peanut butter” in battle. These two survivors along with whatever reinforcements coming along with them will provide a strong line of defense against the Whisperers or whoever come their way.

The only problem is that not everyone will be so eager to trust Negan. His actions were directly responsible for the deaths of several major characters on the show. And don’t forget that individuals with a huge temper like Rosita, Maggie, and others may have a personal agenda against him.
