Norman Reedus is front and center on the Death Stranding box art

We have been hearing about Norman Reedus and Hideo Kojima in regards to the Death Stranding game for what seems like forever. We now have the release date as well as some Reedus-centric box art.

SDCC gave us an overload of all things The Walking Dead. Norman Reedus is always a fan favorite in that regard. He is fun and always interacts well with the fans. Another project that we have been hearing about that Reedus is involved in is a new video game by Hideo Kojima called Death Stranding. After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges, portrayed by Reedus, must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction

Kojima announced the game’s release date of November 8, 2019. The boxed art features Reedus as Sam Bridges. Each box is very clean and simple but each one has it’s own design. Kojima has said he designed the steelbook himself.

There are many pre-order in game bonuses, which are earned through game play, such as gold “Sam” glasses, gold hat, gold speed skeleton (which boosts Sam’s movement speed in the game), and gold armor plate (which boosts Sam’s protection). Also included is the PS4 Dynamic theme and PSN Avatar.

There are a few different versions with special addition in-game as well as physical items.  You can just stay basic and get the standard edition in physical or digital form with the above named pre-order items.

The Special Edition comes as a collectible steelbook and will also come with the pre-order items as well as a special gold version of in-game “Ludens Mask” sunglasses and a digital album download of Death Stranding: Timefall – the original music from the World of  Death Stranding.

The Digital Deluxe Edition is only available via the PS Store. You get all the items from the Special Edition as well as many other addition gold items that are unlocked during game play. Such as, gold power skeleton, gold all terrain skeleton, level 2 gold armor plate, and more. Also included is 10 PSN character avatars.

The Collector’s edition is available at a handful of retailers for $200. You get all the deluxe edition items plus a life-sized BB Pod statue, a Bridges cargo case, and Ludens key chain. Currently it looks like the Collector’s edition is sold out everywhere, but keep checking back as it’ll likely come back into stock.

Sony had this to say about its new game:

Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.”"

Fans of Kojima as well as fans of The Walking Dead’s Reedus, have eagerly awaited the release of this new game . Although this game is still quite the mystery the new trailer released at SDCC did shed some light on what to expect. Look for it November 8, 2019.
