AMC has discussed a movie based on Negan from The Walking Dead

With three movies on the way to tell the story of Rick Grimes, news that AMC has discussed a film based on Negan should encourage The Walking Dead fans.
The world of The Walking Dead is continually changing. With a third television show in the works and the announcement of three movies on the way featuring Rick Grimes, now is a great time to enjoy the undead universe created by Robert Kirkman.
Even though the comic book series came to an end with issue 193, there are still plenty of places AMC and Skybound can tap into in order to come up with great content for those still hungry for more zombie mayhem.
While the possibilities are limitless, there are some ideas which fans might enjoy more than others. One of those which could be very successful is a movie showing the backstory of one of the flagship show’s most notorious villains, Negan.
According to ComicBook.com, this is something that has actually been discussed by AMC. They caught up with Jeffrey Dean Morgan at San Diego Comic-Con and learned that this is a real possibility.
"“I know that it’s been discussed,” Morgan said. “I, we gotta do it before I get any older, I mean, pretty soon I’m not gonna be able to be the young Negan anymore.”"
Those who have read the Here’s Negan standalone comic likely knows quite a bit about how Negan became the man he is and why he acts the way he does in some ways. However, watching how the man went from where he was to become the ruthless leader of the Saviors is something that would make for a great story on the big screen.
AMC also has plenty of outlets for distributing a movie. Not only do they have their partnership with Universal Pictures, but they have their own streaming service called AMC Premiere as well as the option to air a movie directly on AMC for fans.
If fans of The Walking Dead can show AMC that expanding to films can be a success, there are no reasons movies like the one being discussed about Negan would be a bad idea for AMC. And the fact the franchise continues to grow and develop has to be encouraging to anyone who enjoys the undead dramas.
