Fear the Walking Dead fans have a chance to get an inside look at Althea’s past adventures in AMC’s newest You Tube feature “The Althea Tapes.”

The Althea Tapes debuted over the weekend, giving Fear the Walking Dead fans an inside look at Althea’s past adventures in the form of interviews she conducted in the past, long before she met up with her current group of friends. The first tape features Al’s hopeful views on the future and the story of a man named Ed who was looking for a ride to Texas.

The first video features Maggie Grace’s Al as she talks about the value of her interviews. In her eyes, she’s creating an oral history of what happened and the people who lived through it. Or at least the people who lived through it for a little while. Someday, she notes, someone will watch her videos and see what really happened.

You can see the introductory video here:

It’s no coincidence that Al is more dedicated than ever to her craft. Her experience with Isabelle gave her new reasons to think that civilization is going to bounce back, and her tapes just might be helpful somehow.

The second video tells the story of Ed the standup comedian who came from Dayton originally, and now he’s trying to get to Tyler, Texas. Althea has offered him a ride and a cup of noodles in exchange for his story.

These stories will no doubt provide much-needed relief during the show’s hiatus which, thankfully, will only last a few short weeks this time around.

Althea’s tapes will feature heavily into the back half of season 5, with the mid-season premiere filmed documentary style. This will give viewers a look at the action from the characters’ perspective, which should prove interesting now that everyone is back together and they’re about to make a move on the denim factory.

Fear the Walking Dead returns on Sunday, August 11 on AMC.
