3. Alpha and the Whisperers

While they may not have been the biggest group the survivors went up against or the best armed, the way Alpha and the Whisperers lived was interesting and dangerous enough to earn them a very high place on the list.

The ability to direct a massive horde of the undead and move among them undetected made them a threat like nobody had ever seen before. Alpha’s ruthless nature only went further to propel the group and with an enforcer like the massive Beta to do her bidding, there was no questioning the power they had.

While they were good fighters, they didn’t have to do a lot of dirty work. Their massive collection of the undead caused massive destruction and even caused some deaths themselves, such as biting Andrea and devouring Paula.

Key Moment: When it was revealed that the Whisperers had created a line of pikes to create a boundary, that was intense. But it got even worse when readers learned that each pike had the head of a survivor on it, including the leader of one of the communities and a pregnant woman.
