Fear the Walking Dead 5B synopsis: The question of altruism
The synopsis for the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 5 reveals that the group has been pushed to the brink, questioning their new mission.
The first half of Fear the Walking Dead season 5 focused on a new mission that Morgan and the group of survivors dedicated themselves to in a quest to find redemption in the apocalypse. It’s a noble thing to want to help people, but the mission thus far has been a challenging one with plenty of setbacks. Now, in 5B, the group will be forced to reckon with their decisions.
Thankfully, Fear fans only have a few short weeks to wait until the August 11 mid-season premiere. With everyone back together again, it’s time to return the focus on the denim factory and the Logan dilemma.
Take a look at the season 5B synopsis from AMC:
“In the second half of Season 5, after successfully proving their way can work, our heroes gain momentum, rescuing survivors, and spreading the message of hope along the way — until foes both familiar and unexpected arise, forcing the group to question whether their brand of altruism can really make a difference in a world filled with death and decay.”
Clearly, getting the plane to fly again and being able to rescue Grace and all of the kids were major victories for the group. Strand and Salazar let bygones be bygones. The group is stronger than ever before. They have been able to help people, even if those people weren’t the ones they planned to help originally.
The problem facing the group now is that Logan isn’t exactly a trustworthy person. He lured them away so that he could reclaim the denim factory, and now he needs their help to reclaim the oil supplies. Helping him comes with high risk, and possibly high rewards.
Now is the time for the group to step back and evaluate what they’re doing and whether their missions are worth the risk. Their dedication and drive will be put to the test in the second half of season 5.
Fear the Walking Dead returns August 11 at 9pm on AMC.
