The Althea Tapes reveal a possible clue about Fear the Walking Dead 5B

The Althea Tapes have been an entertaining and enlightening way to discover the people Althea met, but one tape shares a possible clue about Fear the Walking Dead 5B.

Fear the Walking Dead returns on August 11 for the second half of season 5, and so far we know from the synopsis that Althea’s tapes will factor heavily into the story. However, fans might have gotten a hint about what’s yet to come thanks to one of the stories in The Althea Tapes.

The Althea Tapes have been a fun and informative way for Fear the Walking Dead fans to meet the people that Al has met over the years. The Althea Tapes have so far yielded brave and heartwarming stories of survival along with new perspectives on what happened in the early days of the zombie apocalypse.

Fans had a chance to meet Clark, the mild-mannered former bank manager who had ventured into town to check on his bank vault and stop at the library while his family remains safely tucked away at their cabin. Clark met Althea, who convinced him to share his story, and over the course of his tale a possible clue about the second half of season 5 emerged.

Clark talked about how he locked up the bank vault when people started getting sick, and then he left town with his family. The only other person who knows the combination is the bank’s assistant manager, but who knows what happened to him. When Al asks for the combination he balks, noting that the vault is full of things that will become relics once the world returns to normal in the future. There is history in those safe deposit boxes, and Clark intends to protect it.

Likewise, Althea is also trying to preserve history with her stories. Fans have already seen how Al’s tapes have saved the day; it was her Skidmark tape that revealed the location of the plane and Salazar’s warehouse. Al makes the case to Clark that her tapes have the same value as the heirlooms stored inside the vault, and after hearing her perspective Clark shares the combination with her.

It’s quite possible that some of Al’s most valuable tapes could be stored in that vault. She could have been returning to the bank periodically to unload her precious tapes, just as she might be hiding surplus camera supplies there, too. With only two other people holding the combination, there’s no question that the vault is a great place to keep things.

Knowing that Logan needs the group’s help to reclaim the oil fields in 5B, it’s possible that Al has tapes in her possession that could help the mission. She might not realize it at first, but as with the Skidmark tape she might remember talking to someone whose story could help them on their mission.

Regardless, there’s no question that The Althea Tapes contain Easter Eggs for Fear the Walking Dead season 5. However, we won’t know how they play into the story for sure until the show returns on August 11 at 9pm on AMC.
