Madison Clark and the Mirror Universe

The whole “Mirror Universe” concept from Star Trek is apt, as the alternate reality is home to the darker, evil counterparts to the characters fans know and love. In the case of Madison Clark, this would be Madison the villain. The struggle would come when Alicia and her mother reunite, now that Alicia has taken up the torch of honoring her mother’s memory with missions to help people. Madison lost everything in her efforts to help people, so mother and daughter would be faced with quite the ideological batter.

If you take what happened with Michelle Yeoh and translate it to Kim Dickens, the possibility of Madison’s return as a darker version of herself is entirely possible and it explains why she played off Madison’s death so well. Let’s face it, she can’t spoil the surprise by revealing the show’s plans, so what better way to throw the old bait and switch to the audience than by “killing” her and allowing Dickens to work on other projects like the Deadwood movie and a few limited series?

It’s actually pretty darn logical.

Obviously there’s no telling what Chambliss and Goldberg have in store for the future of the series, which has been renewed for a sixth season, but they are no doubt laying the foundation for the show’s future and everything we have seen since season 4 has a bigger meaning. It’s important to remember, though, that no one is going to reveal the plans prematurely. For now, fans must sit back and wait to see where the story goes.

Fear the Walking Dead returns for the second half of season 5 on August 11 at 9pm on AMC.
