Fear the Walking Dead 509 recap: Channel 4
Caution: Explosives
John says he’ll cover Morgan as he tries to get closer to Tess. John says he knew that this situation would be rough for his friend. He says that when he was a cop he could go a whole shift without talking to his partner. But things are different with Morgan, who is the best kind of partner to have. (Hopefully she doesn’t show this tape to June!) Morgan agrees.
Morgan and Al try to fall in behind the walkers before they break Tess’ fence, but they arrive as the fence falls and they blow sky high, knocking Al and Morgan to the ground.
John tells Al later that this was the “ugliest mustard” he has ever seen. She laughs at his choice of words, and he explains that his grandfather worked in a delicatessen. Because of course he did.
The mines keep blowing up and Morgan and Al try to get into the field before they draw more walkers. Luciana sets the camera on the truck so that she can help John shoot at the walkers because the mines keep blowing. Morgan calls to Strand to see how they’re doing.
It just so happens that the walker who was about to attack Alicia was Tess’ husband, and in his bag was the inhaler.
You can hear Tess’ son crying out inside as the mines continue to blow. Morgan makes the decision to run back inside the gates, ignoring the danger. (In an interview later Al asks him about his wife and son) Al warns him to stay in the already-blown craters. Unfortunately, his left foot is on a mine.
